SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Summit League announced its 2019 fall sports league contests for men's and women's soccer and volleyball.
The five match, seven Saturday men's soccer league schedule will kick off on Sept. 28 and will run through Nov. 9 with The Summit League Championship being held Nov. 14 & 16 in Denver. Teams will play a single round robin and will have two byes scattered throughout the Saturday league schedule. Denver and Omaha, the only two teams to win the tournament championship since 2013, will square off on Oct. 26 in Denver for a match that could decide who wins the regular season crown.
The women's soccer league schedule will be played over the course of five weekends beginning the weekend of Oct. 3. The nine-team league will play at least one league opponent each weekend until the conclusion of the season on Nov. 3. The Summit League Championship event will be played in Brookings, S.D. on Nov. 7 & 9. Denver and South Dakota State, the top two teams in the regular season standings a year ago, tied with 21 points and have combined to win the last six Summit League tournament crowns. The Pioneers and Jackrabbits will meet on Thursday, Oct. 31 in Brookings for a marquee contest.
An eight-week, double round robin format will be used for the league volleyball schedule. The nine Summit League programs will get league play started the week of Sept. 24 and play matches on Tuesday's, Friday's and Saturday's until the conclusion of the season on Nov. 17. The 2019 volleyball championships will take place Nov. 22-24 in Denver. The University of Denver and the University of South Dakota were the top two teams a year ago, with the Pioneers earning the regular season crown and the Coyotes winning the tournament crown. The two programs first meeting of 2019 will come on Oct. 6 in Denver followed by a match in Vermillion on Nov. 3.
