"The Summit League leadership program has been a success at the last three championships, and we hope that by continuing this program we will provide these students with a great opportunity to learn about the inner-workings of a Division I Basketball Championship," Summit League Commissioner Tom Douple said. "Our intent is to get them involved with the event management, media relations and game presentation components of the championship. These students should be commended for this investment in their future."

The program, which was open to students at Tulsa-area high schools, will expose the students to the administrative components of a Division I conference tournament and allow these students to assist conference staff in some of the day-to-day duties of the championship. The students were also asked to write a 500-word essay on the importance of developing leadership qualities.
