Summit League Presidents Council Convenes in Chicago

ELMHURST, Ill. – The Summit League Presidents Council held its annual summer meeting in Chicago Monday, finalizing the championship calendar and electing its leadership for the upcoming school year.

The Presidents Council approved the sites for all 19 of the 2008-09 Summit League championships. Championship hosts were awarded for women's soccer (Western Illinois), men's soccer (Oakland), volleyball (Oral Roberts), women's golf (Oakland), men's golf (UMKC), tennis (IPFW), softball (Western Illinois) and baseball (Oral Roberts). The 2008 Cross Country Championships will be held at Centenary, while the 2009 Swimming & Diving Championships will take place Feb. 19-21, at Oakland. The Indoor Track & Field Championships will be hosted by UMKC, while the Outdoor Track & Field Championships will take place at Southern Utah. The Presidents Council elected Dr. Kenneth Schwab, President of Centenary College, to be the Chair of The Summit League Presidents Council for a two-year term, while Southern Utah President Dr. Michael Benson will serve as the Vice Chair. Accordingly, Centenary Director of Athletics Dr. Tom Tallach will serve as the Chair of The Summit League Joint Council, and Southern Utah Athletics Director Ken Beazer will be the Vice Chair of that group. Centenary's Dr. David Hoaas begins a two-year term as the Chair of The Summit League Faculty Athletics Representatives.

The Summit League is comprised of 10 member institutions - Centenary College of Louisiana, Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW), Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI), University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC), North Dakota State University, Oakland University, Oral Roberts University, South Dakota State University, Southern Utah University and Western Illinois University.
