Each month, The Summit League will feature outstanding student-athlete performances from a selected institution as recognized by its Faculty Athletic Representative. The February installment of The Summit League Scholar-Athlete Spotlight features three student-athletes from Oakland.

Alanna Gerber, Women’s Golf
Eligibility Year/Hometown: Sr./Hudsonville, Mich.
Major: Elementary Education

Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) President, Summit League SAAC representative to the NCAA and will serve on the NCAA Championships and Sports Management Cabinet in 2012-13 ... Has a pair of top-20 finishes at The Summit League Championship ... Ranks third all-time in school history with a career stroke average of 79.92 ... Her 36-hole career-low of 150 at the OU Challenge ranks tied for sixth in school history ... Posted 37 rounds in the 70s ... Posted a perfect 4.0 grade-point average (GPA) in the Fall 2012 ... Three-time Academic Honor Roll selection and NGCA All-America Scholar Athlete. 

Brittni Hutton, Women’s Cross Country/Track & Field

The 2012 Cross Country Summit League Female Athlete of the Year ... Named the 2012 Summit League Championship MVP ... Became the second-ever OU runner to win The Summit League Championship ... Set a new school 6k record with a time of 21:09 at the Bradley Classic ... Three-time Summit League Athlete of the Week in 2012 ... Finished as a three-time All-Summit League first team selection in cross country ... Clocked the second-fastest indoor time in school history of 17:08.09 this year in the 5,000 meters ... Head of the Student Video Productions for Oakland University. 

Julianne Boyle, Women’s Soccer
Eligibility Year/Hometown: Jr./Lake Orion, Mich.
Major: Engineering Biology
GPA:  3.92

Led the women's soccer team to an upset of No. 4 seed Ohio State to advance to the second round of the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history (second time in league history) ... Guided the Golden Grizzlies to back-to-back NCAA tournament appearances in 2011 and '12 ... Garnered MVP honors at the 2012 Summit League Tournament ... As a defensive midfielder, helped the Grizzlies become the first team to not allow a single goal in the league tournament ... OU posted a league-best 10 shutouts ... Posted a perfect 4.0 GPA for the fall 2012.
