WEEKLY NOTEBOOK: VOL. 2 (Feb. 21)

AROUND THE SUMMIT LEAGUE...
• Oral Roberts' outfield Andrew Pace picked up the initial Player of the Week accolade after batting .615 in the Golden Eagles' series sweep of Murray State. Pace added five RBI, three doubles and three runs scored.
• The Golden Eagles outscored the Racers 35-11 with Spencer Henson and Hunter Wilson leading the league with six RBI apiece during the opening weekend. Wilson also batted .500 (6-for-12) for ORU.
• South Dakota State's Brady Stover provided a win for the Jacks in their season opener, tossing five shutout innings to go with nine strikeouts against UT Martin.
• Of the 19 games played by Summit League teams during the opening weekend, nine were decided by one run. League teams went 4-5 in those contests with Purdue Fort Wayne accounting for three of those wins in a series sweep of Alabama A&M
• North Dakota State's Bennett Hostetler hit a pair of home runs as the Bison opened their season with a 9-1 victory at Sacramento State.
• NDSU freshman Peter Brookshaw started his collegiate career with an impressive weekend at the plate, leading the Bison with six hits and a .462 batting average in three games vs. the Hornets.
• SDSU freshman Luke Ira matched Brookshaw's efforts at the plate, also going 6-for-13 in his first collegiate action, helping the Jacks to a 2-1 start to the season.
• Purdue Fort Wayne's Sean Ferguson picked up a pair of saves during the opening week, allowing just one hit in two innings of work against the Bulldogs. The sophomore had two saves for Parkland CC last season in his first collegiate season.
• The Mastodons were led at the plate by Alec Brunson, who was another league freshman to hit better than .400 in his taste of college baseball. Brunson went 5-for-11 (.455) at the plate with two RBI, while Garrett Mohler batted .400 with a team-best five RBI.
