SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – South Dakota State’s Logan Holtz batted over .500 and led the Jackrabbits to a pair of wins en route to earning The Summit League Baseball Player of the Week award while Oral Roberts’ righthander Josh McMinn collected the league’s weekly pitching honor after falling one out shy of a complete game in a win over Purdue.
Holtz went 6-for-11 at the plate (.545) with four RBI in the Jacks’ three games last week, including a 3-for-5 effort in a 6-3 win over Missouri. He opened the scoring against the Tigers with a two-run single in the first. In a 7-5 win over Central Arkansas later in the day, Holtz drove in the game-tying run in the sixth inning, then drew a bases-loaded walk in the ninth to plate the go-ahead run.
McMinn fell one out shy of a complete game, allowing just one earned run on six hits in 5-1 win over Purdue. The senior held the Boilermakers, who made the 2018 NCAA Tournament, hitless until the fifth inning and retired the first 10 batters of the game. He finished the game with six strikeouts and did not walk a batter.
