SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – North Dakota State and Western Illinois both picked up key series wins last weekend against teams ahead of them in The Summit League baseball standings and a player from each of those squads secured a weekly honor for their efforts.

Western Illinois took the first two games of its road series at Oral Roberts and shortstop Kevin Raisbeck was the catalyst for the Leathernecks' offense en route to earning Summit League Player of the Week honors. After going 2-for-4 in a mid-week game against Iowa, Raisbeck went 6-for-10 and scored four runs in WIU's two wins over the Golden Eagles.

Raisbeck finished the week batting .500 (8-for-16) and scored the game-winning run in a 6-4, 10-inning victory in game one. He doubled in both victories as well, leading the Leathernecks to a 5-1 record against ORU during the regular season.

After dropping game one, NDSU bounced back to win games two and three of its home series with Omaha. Freshman southpaw Max Loven tossed his second straight complete game in a 3-2 win over the Mavericks in game two to earn the first Pitcher of the Week honor of his young career.

After yielding two runs in the fourth, Loven kept the Mavericks off the scoreboard the rest of the way as the Bison held on for the one-run victory. He also made a sparkling defensive play in the eighth inning, diving to catch a sac bunt attempt, then doubling the runner off first base to get two quick outs. The Bison have won five of Loven's last six starts in league play.

North Dakota State and Western Illinois remained tied for fourth place in the league standings, improving their respective records to 12-12 with two three-game weekend series remaining on the schedule. The top four teams will earn a berth in The Summit League Baseball Championship scheduled for May 22-25 in Tulsa, Okla.
