SIOUX FALLS, S.D. –
It came down to the final day of the regular season to decide the last spot in the four-team field for the 2019 Summit League Baseball Championship and Western Illinois secured it and the No. 4 seed thanks to a win-and-in victory over Purdue Fort Wayne. The Leathernecks join top-seeded Omaha, second-seeded South Dakota State and third-seeded Oral Roberts.

This is the third regular-season title for Omaha (20-10) since joining the league in 2013, but this will be the first time the Mavericks will get to enjoy being the No. 1 seed at the #SummitBSB Championship. Their first two regular-season titles came before they were eligible to compete in postseason play in 2016. The Mavericks were the No. 2 seed in their only previous tournament appearance in 2016.

Omaha matched a program record for league wins with 20 set during its first season as a league member. The Mavericks opened their 2019 Summit League campaign with 12 straight league wins and were 13-2 at the halfway point.

The tournament will be played May 22-25 at J.L. Johnson Stadium in Tulsa, Okla. First-round games of the double-elimination bracket will be played on Wednesday.

First pitch of the 2019 Summit League Championship will take place at 12 p.m. (CT) on Wednesday when the Mavericks face the Leathernecks in game one. Omaha swept Western Illinois in the first series, then dropped two of three in Macomb to the Leathernecks last weekend.

Game No. 2 is slated for a 6 p.m. start and will feature South Dakota State (19-10) and host Oral Roberts (17-12). This will be the 16th time the Golden Eagles have hosted the postseason event, but the first time they will not be the No. 1 or No. 2 seed since joining the league in 1998. The Jacks are the hottest team entering the tournament, having won seven of their last 10 games and have not dropped a league series (5-0-1) since being swept by Omaha (April 5-6).

Oral Roberts had won the previous three regular-season titles since rejoining the league in 2015 and had won at least a share of that title from 1998-2012. The Golden Eagles took two of three from Omaha on the road and were the only league team to take both series from the top-seeded Mavericks.

Game No. 3 will be Thursday at Noon and feature the losers of games one and two while the winners of the opening two contests will square off in game No. 4 at 6 p.m. An elimination game will be held Friday at 4 p.m. CT between the two remaining teams with a loss while first pitch for Saturday's championship game will be at 1 p.m. (CT) with an if necessary game to follow. The Summit League Champion will earn the League's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

All games will be streamed live on thesummitleague.org.
