ELMHURST, Ill. - Summit League champion South Dakota State earned a No. 12 seed in the 2018 NCAA Tournament and will face No. 5 seed Ohio State in the West Region's opening round Thursday in Boise, Idaho. The Jackrabbits (28-6) are making their third consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance after claiming both the league's regular season and tournament crowns.
The Summit League champion earned a No. 12 seed for third time in the past six tournaments, all in even years (2014, 2016, 2018). Two of the league's NCAA Tournament victories came as a No. 12 - North Dakota State over Oklahoma in 2014 and Green Bay over California in 1994.
The SDSU-OSU matchup marks The Summit League's first pairing against a Big Ten opponent since 2013 (SDSU vs. Michigan) and the fifth all-time.
Tip time is set for approximately 4 p.m. ET following the conclusion of the UNC Greensboro-Gonzaga game. TNT will televise the matchup from Taco Bell Arena.
