Summit League Announces 2018-19 MBB and WBB Schedules

ELMHURST, Ill. – The Summit League released its men's and women's basketball schedules for the upcoming 2018-19 seasons Thursday morning.

Both slates begin on Friday, Dec. 28, and will feature 72 games for each gender. Additionally, all nine Summit League teams on the men's and women's side are set to play a 16-game, double round-robin league schedule. The league docket increased by two games compared to seasons past given the addition of North Dakota to The Summit League.

The 2018-19 men's and women's basketball season will once again culminate in Sioux Falls, S.D., inside the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center, March 9-12. This marks the 11th-straight season the league tournaments are being played in Sioux Falls and the fifth-consecutive season at the PREMIER Center.

MEN'S SCHEDULE NOTES

  • 72 total league games will be played from Dec. 28 to March 2
  • Each team (9) plays 16 games, facing every other team both home-and-away
  • Season tips on Friday, Dec. 28, with the following match-ups: Denver at Omaha, Purdue Fort Wayne at North Dakota, South Dakota at North Dakota State and South Dakota State at Western Illinois
  • Oral Roberts is the only team to begin its league schedule on Sunday, Dec. 30, squaring off against the Mavericks at Omaha
  • The 2017-18 regular season and tournament champion South Dakota State Jackrabbits open their league campaign with three-straight road contests: Western Illinois (Dec. 28), Purdue Fort Wayne (Jan. 3) and South Dakota (Jan. 6)
  • North Dakota begins its inaugural season in The Summit League with a home game versus Purdue Fort Wayne (Dec. 28)
  • South Dakota State and South Dakota will meet in a rematch of the 2018 Summit League Championship game in Vermillion on Jan. 6 and again in Brookings on Feb. 23
  • The Summit League regular season wraps up on Saturday, March 2, with the following match-ups: Omaha at Denver, North Dakota State at Purdue Fort Wayne, North Dakota at South Dakota and Western Illinois at South Dakota State
  • The 2019 Summit League Men's and Women's Basketball Tournaments get underway Saturday, March 9 and run through Tuesday, March 12

WOMEN'S SCHEDULE NOTES

  • Teams beginning their league schedule on Dec. 30 include North Dakota at home against Purdue Fort Wayne, Oral Roberts at Omaha and South Dakota at North Dakota State
  • The South Dakota State Jackrabbits, last season's tournament champs, start their league season on the road at Western Illinois, Purdue Fort Wayne and South Dakota before opening at home against Denver on Jan. 9
  • The Fighting Hawks of UND begin their inaugural Summit League basketball season versus Purdue Fort Wayne (Dec. 30), at Oral Roberts (Jan. 2) and at Denver (Jan. 5)
  • The Jackrabbits (tournament champs) and Coyotes (2017 regular-season champs and tournament runners-up) face off in Vermillion on Jan. 6 and in Brookings on Feb. 24
