SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – For the first time in his career, Western Illinois center Brandon Gilbeck was named The Summit League Player of the Week on Monday. The Leathernecks' 7-footer averaged 14.0 ppg, 11.0 rpg and 6.5 bpg in a pair of contests.

In WIU's 95-56 blowout of Dominican (Ill.), he had 19 points on 6-of-7 shooting from the floor and a 7-for-8 effort from the foul stripe. The senior also added five blocks in the victory.

In a tough, 68-66 overtime road loss to in-state foe Eastern Illinois, Gilbeck secured a career-high 19 rebounds to go with nine points and a career-high nine blocks.  Six of his boards came on the offensive end and those nine blocks are the most by a Division I player in a game this season.

With 13 blocks on the week, Gilbeck reached the 200-block plateau for his career and currently ranks fourth on The Summit League's all-time charts in that category.
