SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- When the MGM Resorts NBA Summer League 2019 tips off Friday in Las Vegas, The Summit League will be well-represented thanks to a trio of standouts from the 2018-19 graduating class set to participate. Purdue Fort Wayne's John Konchar will suit up for the Memphis Grizzlies, South Dakota State's Mike Daum will play with the Portland Trail Blazers, and Western Illinois' Brandon Gilbeck will play with the Denver Nuggets. The MGM Resorts NBA Summer League runs from July 5-15.

Those three players wrapped up their collegiate careers as All-Summit League performers a season ago with Konchar and Daum both earning a first-team nod for the fourth-consecutive season. Gilbeck landed on the second team after leading the Division I ranks in blocked shots with 3.42 per game.

Daum's remarkable collegiate career closed with him earning a record-tying third Summit League Player of the Year honor and becoming the first consensus All-American in league history. He averaged 25.3 ppg and 11.7 rpg, finishing as the only player in DI with a 25-10 double-double average. Daum also finished his career as one of the top 10 all-time scorers in DI history, ranking seventh with 3,067 career points. That figure tops The Summit League's all-time scoring charts and his 1,236 career rebounds are also the most compiled by a league player.

Konchar's career exploits included becoming the first men's basketball player in NCAA Division I history to reach the 2,000-point plateau, 1,000-rebound plateau, 500-assist plateau, and 200-steal plateau. He finished as the Mastodons' all-time career leader in points (2,065) and rebounds (1,150) while earning his second straight CollegeInsider.com Lou Henson All-America accolade. Konchar also became the first player in league history to record a triple-double at The Summit League Championship, scoring 18 points to go with 10 rebounds and 10 assists during an opening-round win over South Dakota.

Gilbeck closed out his career fourth all-time in The Summit League record books with 285 blocks while averaging career bests with 9.5 ppg and 8.5 rpg as a senior. He helped lead the eighth-seeded Leathernecks to an upset of top-seeded South Dakota State in the opening round of 2019 Summit League Championship. It marked the first time the No. 1 seed fell in the quarterfinals in tournament history.

ABOUT THE NBA SUMMER LEAGUE (Website)
The MGM Resorts NBA Summer League features a team from all 30 NBA franchises along with the Croatian and Chinese national teams. All 32 teams will compete in a tournament-style schedule and play four preliminary games before the top eight teams are seeded into a Championship bracket. The remaining 24 teams will each play in a consolation game and the tournament culminates with a title game scheduled for July 15 at 9 p.m. ET on ESPN2.

The games are being played at the Thomas & Mack Center and Cox Pavilion on the campus of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

For the third consecutive year, ESPN will present every game from Las Vegas via the ESPN app, along with 43 games on its linear television networks (ESPN, ESPN2, and ESPNU).

Eight NBA teams tipped off their summer slate of games before arriving in Las Vegas. The Utah Jazz played host to a round-robin tournament with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Memphis Grizzlies, and San Antonio Spurs in Salt Lake City from July 1-3, while the Sacramento Kings played host to a similar event during the same stretch of days. The California Classic also featured the Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Lakers, and Miami Heat.

Konchar played in two of those three games for the Grizzlies, helping lead Memphis to a pair of wins in those contests he saw action. He averaged 8.0 ppg and 6.0 rpg in Salt Lake City, adding six assists, five steals, and two blocks.
