SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Omaha's Matt Pile and Western Illinois' Zion Young shared the latest #SummitMBB weekly award league officials announced Monday. Pile and Young led their respective teams to home wins Sunday afternoon in what were the Summit League openers for both the Mavericks and Leathernecks.

Pile finished with 18 points, nine rebounds and equaled his season-high with four blocks in helping Omaha to an 81-78 victory over reigning regular-season champion South Dakota State. Pile's final block sealed the win for the Mavericks as he deflected a potential game-winning layup by the Jackrabbits in the closing seconds.

After being saddled to the bench with early foul trouble and going scoreless in five minutes of first-half play, Young erupted for a team-high 21 points in 16 minutes of second-half action. The sophomore went 7-for-12 from the field and grabbed all nine of his game-high rebounds after the break.

Young's jumper with just over eight minutes to play broke a 66-66 tie and the Leathernecks never trailed again en route to their first win in a Summit League opener since the 2016-17 season
