Oral Roberts, South Dakota State share lead after round one of #SummitGF Men’s Championship

NEWTON, Kan. –
 Thanks to shooting a 290-team score, Oral Roberts and South Dakota State each have a share of the lead after the opening round of the 2019 #SummitGF Men's Championship.

SDSU's Jared Nicolls is the first-round leader after shooting a bogey-free 68 (-4). The first team All-Summit League performer made three-straight birdies on holes two through four to get his round started.

His lead is two shots on ORU's Cody Burrows, who led the field with seven birdies on the opening loop at the Sand Creek Station Golf Club. South Dakota State's Scott Fudenberg matched his 70 with a round that featured five birdies.

Reigning Championship MVP Zach Schroeder is three shots off Nicolls' pace after opening with a 71 (-1). Schroeder is tied Denver's Eric Hagen, who also opened with a one-under par round.

Hagen's efforts out of the five-spot in DU's lineup has the Pioneers (292; +4) two shots off the lead in the team standings. Fudenberg, who was playing out of the No. 5 spot as well, has the Coyotes (298; +8) eight shots behind the Golden Eagles and Jackrabbits.

Schroeder and the Mastodons (299; +11) are one stroke behind DU in fifth while reigning team champion NDSU (300; +12) is in sixth. Junior Andrew Israelson was the top Bison, turning in a 73 (+1), which has him tied for seventh.

Omaha is currently in seventh after the Mavericks shot a 304 (+16). Western Illinois sits in eighth following a 312 (+24) and UND rounds out the leaderboard in ninth following a 318 (+30).

With inclement weather forecasted for Tuesday, the 2019 #SummitGF Men's Championship will be concluded on Monday with 36 holes. The second round is slated to begin at 8 a.m. CT with teams starting on holes No. 1 and No. 10 and followed immediately by round three.
