DENVER (denverpioneers.com) -- The striking partnership of junior Andre Shinyashiki and redshirt-senior Blake Elder combined for three goals to lead the [3/4] University of Denver men's soccer team past [23/15] Florida Gulf Coast on Friday night at Pioneer Field at the University of Denver Soccer Stadium.

Shinyashiki's brace is his second in a season opener in his three years with the Pioneers, also finding the back of the net twice on opening night in 2015 against UC Riverside.

Friday night's win extends Denver's regular season unbeaten run to 36 matches, dating back to Halloween night, 2014. Denver also improved to 41-1-2 at home in its last 44 competitive matches.
