Summit League men's soccer teams went a combined 3-1-2 to open the season Friday night. No. 3 Denver ousted No. 15 Florida Gulf Coast (3-1), while Omaha downed Grand Canyon (2-1, OT) and Oral Roberts shutout Incarnate Word (1-0).
Eastern Illinois and Fort Wayne earned draws over Milwaukee (1-1) and Wright State (0-0), respectively.

DENVER (denverpioneers.com) -- The striking partnership of junior Andre Shinyashiki and redshirt-senior Blake Elder combined for three goals to lead the [3/4] University of Denver men's soccer team past [23/15] Florida Gulf Coast on Friday night at Pioneer Field at the University of Denver Soccer Stadium.
Shinyashiki's brace is his second in a season opener in his three years with the Pioneers, also finding the back of the net twice on opening night in 2015 against UC Riverside.
Friday night's win extends Denver's regular season unbeaten run to 36 matches, dating back to Halloween night, 2014. Denver also improved to 41-1-2 at home in its last 44 competitive matches.
Omaha 2, Grand Canyon 1 (OT)
OMAHA, Neb. (omavs.com) -- The Omaha men's soccer team overcame a 1-0 deficit to defeat Grand Canyon 2-1 in overtime on Friday evening at Caniglia Field.
Senior Emmanuel Hamzat scored the game-winning goal with 2:17 left in the first overtime period to give the Mavericks the win. The Lagos, Nigeria, native received a pass from Miguel Gomez and fired a shot that hit the crossbar and far post before going into the back of the net.
Omaha (1-0) fell behind in the first half after Grand Canyon's Niki Jackson received a pass from Charlie Johnson and placed his shot over Maverick goalkeeper Joseph Ghitis. UNO would continue to press, as Xavier Gomez lofted a shot from nearly 50-yards out to tie the match.
Oral Roberts 1, Incarnate Word 0
TULSA, Okla. (oruathletics.com) -- The Oral Roberts men's soccer team defeated Incarnate Word 1-0 in the team's season opener Friday evening at the Case Soccer Complex.
Freshman newcomer Dante Brigida scored his first career goal as a Golden Eagle when he recovered the ball off of a slide tackle, took the ball to his left and scored from 16 yards out on the near post in the 47th minute.
