Academic All-League Team Announced for #SummitMSOC

ELMHURST, Ill. – With the conclusion of the 2017 men's soccer season, The Summit League has announced its Academic All-League Team as voted on by the institution faculty athletics representatives and sports information directors. A total of 14 student-athletes were named to the team and honored for their academic and athletic performances this season.

Regular season champion Denver placed a league-best five student-athletes on the team led by first team all-league selection Graham Smith and second team honorees AJ Fuller and Alex Underwood.

Regular season runner-up Western Illinois had four recipients, while Omaha placed two on the list and Eastern Illinois, Fort Wayne and Oral Roberts each received one selection on the team.

A pair of student-athletes – Omaha's Joseph Ghitis and Western Illinois' Fernando Pacheco – both earned their third career distinction, while WIU's Ben Fiddes was named to the team for the second time in his career.

To be eligible for the Academic All-League team, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.30 (on a 4.0 scale), completed at least one full academic year at the current institution and participated in 50 percent of their team's competitions.  The men's soccer all-league team is made up of the student-athletes receiving the most votes with all ties standing.
