SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Last weekend was the first that featured all six Summit League members in action against one another. The strength of the league was on full display with two matches ending in ties and creating what is sure to be a fun couple of weeks of scoreboard watching as we inch closer to the four-team conference tournament in November.


Around The League

• The Summit League has a conference RPI of nine out of 24 conferences

• Denver's RPI of 24 leads the conference. They are followed closely by Purdue Fort Wayne who has an RPI of 29. Rounding out the leagues RPI is Omaha (63), Oral Roberts (119), Eastern Illinois (145) and Western Illinois (155)

• Denver's last three matches have all gone to double overtime. In those matches, they have posted a record of 2-0-1

• Oral Roberts earned an impressive 4-1 win over Valparaiso on Monday

• Eastern Illinois held Denver scoreless for the first time this season. The shutout earned sophomore goalkeeper Jonathan Burke defensive player of the week honors for the second time this season

• Denver senior forward Andre Shinyashiki continues to have an impressive season. He leads the country in total goals (19), total points (40), goals per game (1.73), points per game (3.64), shots per game (5.27), shots on goal per game (3.45) and game-winning goals (7)

• Denver senior midfielder Kenny Akamatsu is ranked 10th in the nation in total assists with six

• Purdue Fort Wayne senior midfielder Matthew Lieshout is ranked sixth in the county in goals scored with nine

• Omaha's schedule has been the fifth toughest in the country so far this season

• Eastern Illinois and Purdue Fort Wayne have also played tough schedules, each ranking inside the top 60 out of 206 schools

• The conference standings are going to be a tight race throughout the season with four teams separated by just a point
