SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The University of Denver men's soccer team dropped a 1-0 result at Missouri State in the NCAA First Round on Thursday night at Betty and Bobby Allison South Stadium.

A match that was delayed 30 minutes by lighting in the area was played in a downpour for the opening 30 minutes. The two teams went into the locker room scoreless.

Missouri State took the lead in the 71st minute off a set-piece goal. Jack Denton played the Bears' 11th corner of the night from Palmquist's right. Kyle Heibert got on the end of the service, but his shot was saved by Palmquist. Bentley got to the rebound, putting his 15th goal of the season into the roof of the net from inside the six-yard box to give the home side the advantage.

Denver's best chance to equalize came in the 89th minute, when hammered a free kick at the top of the box, but it was blocked by the wall, and out for a corner kick.

Missouri State outshot Denver 11-7 in the 90 minutes, and took 11 of the 13 corners.
