The Summit League Announces the Second Swimming and Diving Weekly Awards

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – In the second full week of the swimming and diving season the Denver Pioneers swept the women's awards with Heidi Bradley and Zora Opalka being named the swimmer and diver of the week. On the men's side there were a couple of first-time winners as Western Illinois junior Brennan Bladel was named the male swimmer of the week and South Dakota freshman Hudson Wilkerson was named the male diver of the week.

Female Swimmer of the Week

Heidi Bradley, Denver

Sr. | Victoria, B.C.

• Combined for four event wins over the weekend after winning four relays in the opening weekend

• Helped Denver defeat Colorado State 168-132

• Swept the backstroke events and was a part of the victories in the 200-yard free and the 200-yard medley relays

• 100-yard backstroke – 55.94; 200-yard backstroke – 2:03.75; 200-yard medley – 25.80 (1:42.91); 200-yard freestyle – 24.03 (1:35.35)  

• This is her second career swimmer of the week honor


Also nominated: Erica Hagen, Western Illinois; Jessica Harris, Eastern Illinois


Female Diver of the Week

Zora Opalka, Denver

So. | Bainbridge Island, Wash.

• Won the 3-meter dive with a score of 272.55 for her first career 3-meter title

• Helped Denver defeat Colorado State 168-132

• Finished third in the 1-meter dive with a score of 232.65

• This is her first career diving weekly honor

Male Swimmer of the Week

Brennan Bladel, Western Illinois

•  Was a part of the winning 200-yard medley relay team and won two individual events, while finishing second in the 200-yard freestyle

• Was the only Western Illinois swimmer to win two events

• 200-yard backstroke – 1:55.64; 200-yard IM – 1:57.87; 200-yard freestyle – 1:43.89; 200-yard medley relay – 24.91 (1:37.30)

Male Diver of the Week

Hudson Wilkerson, South Dakota

Fr. | Powell, Wyo.

• Finished second in the 3-meter dive with a score of 284.80

• Placed third in the 1-meter dive with a score of 230.90

• This is his first career diving weekly honor
