SIOUX FALLS, S.D. –A world-leading shot put throw and a nationally-ranked vault earned a pair of field athletes Summit League indoor track and field weekly honors. North Dakota State's Payton Otterdahl claimed the athlete of the week accolade on the men's side for the third consecutive week, while South Dakota's Helen Falda earned the women's weekly award. 

Payton Otterdahl, North Dakota State
Senior | Throws

  • Threw 71 feet (21.64 meters) in the shot put to claim the event at the Mark Colligan Memorial
  • Currently ranks third on the all-time NCAA indoor list with only a three and a half inch margin between him and the co-record holders
  • Continues to rank No. 1 in the world and increased his lead by 19 inches
  • Is the only athlete in collegiate history to reach 21.60 meters in the shot put and 23.60 meters in the weight throw

Helen Falda, South Dakota
Junior | Pole Vault

  • Won the pole vault with a height of 14-2 at the Jack Johnson Classic
  • Recorded the highest NCAA mark by a Summit League female this week
  • Moved to eighth in the NCAA with an indoor career best
  • Leads the league by seven inches
