USD’s Anderson, NDSU’s Nilles secure weekly awards

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. –South Dakota junior Zack Anderson and North Dakota State junior Maddy Nilles had record-breaking performances in their respective events this past weekend earning them Summit League Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week accolades. Anderson earned his second weekly award of the season on the men's side, while Nilles took home her first honor of the season on the women's side. 

Zack Anderson, South Dakota
Junior | Jumps

  • Jumped a height of 7-3.75 to win the high jump at the Dakota Realty Alumni Meet
  • Improved his own USD school record by half an inch
  • Broke a 12-year-old DakotaDome high jump record
  • Ranks eighth in the NCAA this season and leads the Summit League

Maddy Nilles, North Dakota State
Junior | Throws

  • Won the weight throw (70-09.75) and placed fourth in the shot put (49-09.75) at the Bison Open
  • Improved her school record and facility record in the weight throw
  • Ranks ninth in the NCAA this season in the weight throw
  • Recorded a career-best in the shot put to move up to No. 8 on the NDSU all-time list
