Big throws earn NDSU duo athlete of the week honors

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. –North Dakota State senior Payton Otterdahl and redshirt freshman Akealy Moton swept the Summit League Outdoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week accolades after record-breaking performances during this past weekend's competition. Otterdahl earned his second-straight honor, while Moton received the award for the first time in her career.

Otterdahl won both the hammer throw and the discus this past weekend at the Husker Spring Invitational in Lincoln, Neb. In the discus, he extended his school record for the third straight meet with a winning throw of 206-6 (62.94m) which moved him up to No. 2 in the nation this year.

Moton headlined the women's program at the invitational with a shot put mark of 56-08.75 (17.29m) to shatter the NDSU school record. The mark this past weekend moved her up to No. 3 in the NCAA this season.
