CoSIDA Academic All-America Release

VERMILLION, S.D. (goyotes.com) — South Dakota sophomore guard Ciara Duffy was voted to the Academic All-America Division I Women's Basketball third team selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Duffy becomes the first Coyote women's basketball player to earn the honor at the Division I level. Overall, she's the ninth player in program history and the first since 2009.

"This is an absolutely incredible honor for Ciara and one that is extremely well deserved," said USD head coach Dawn Plitzuweit. "Ciara is relentless in her pursuit of excellence, both in the classroom and on the court. She's a great person, student, player, teammate and role model. We are incredibly proud of her!"

A native of Rapid City, South Dakota, Duffy earned all-Summit League first team honors and a spot on the Summit League all-tournament team. She leads the Coyotes this season with 11.7 points and 4.7 rebounds per game, while dishing out 2.4 assists and tallying 1.1 steals per game. Duffy has shot 46.8 percent from the floor and 41.5 percent outside the arc.

Duffy reached double figures in 11 of 14 Summit games with a double-double in the league opener with Denver. She also scored a career-high 24 points in the Denver game. Duffy averaged a team-high 14.6 points and 5.4 rebounds in league play while shooting 51.7 percent.

The Coyotes completed the first undefeated Summit League slate in 24 years to capture the Summit League regular season title.
