Weekly Notebook 13 W/ Stats

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – As we enter the backside of The Summit League schedule, we have some separation at the top of the League standings with a lot of congestion in the middle of the standings. With teams beginning to play each other for the second time this season, expect a lot of surprises in the final month of the regular season.

The Opening Tip

Purdue Fort Wayne senior De'Jour Young helped guide her Mastodon squad to back-to-back Summit League wins for the first since the 2013-14 season. On their way to back-to-back wins, she scored a career-high 25-points against Omaha and 14-points against Denver. Oral Roberts sophomore Kenni Jo Lippe also had a career day for the Golden Eagles. She scored a career-high 34-points and added 12 rebounds for her second career double-double in Oral Roberts' victory over North Dakota State.

Things to Watch

• South Dakota and South Dakota State sit atop The Summit League standings with 7-1 league records. USD currently holds the head-to-head advantage with their double overtime win against the Jackrabbits on Jan. 6

• SDSU's Macy Miller moved into the third on the Summit League all-time scoring list with 2,082 career points. Miller is just 24 points away from moving into second all-time and 196 points from being the all-time scoring leader

• Western Illinois' Taylor Higginbotham is nine made 3-pointers shy of moving into the top 10 for most made three's in Summit League history. She currently has 227 career makes

• Denver's Lauren Loven has made 80 three-pointers this season. She is three makes away from moving into the top 14 for most makes in a season. The current record is 99 held by Jaci Bigham of Oral Roberts during the 2009-10 season. Loven is averaging four makes per game and with at least 10 games remaining, she is on pace for 119 this season. Loven is also shooting the three at a 49 percent clip, which if the season ended today, would be the second highest single-season three-point shooting percentage in league history

• A limited number of lower level all-session tickets for the 2019 Summit League Basketball Championships went on sale. For more details click HERE
