OPELIKA, Ala. -- The way it got there was a little different, but the Denver women's golf team once again carded a 304 (+16) in second-round play at the NCAA Auburn Regional Tuesday at the Saugahatchee Country Club. Freshman Trussy Li was the top Pioneer for the second-straight day as she turned in a 75 (+3) is tied for 38th with a 36-hole total of 149 (+7). 

Summit League Championship MVP Mary Weinstein has been one stroke of Li's pace in back-to-back rounds so far, registering a 76 (+4) in her second loop that featured a team-high three birdies. She is tied for 51st after 36 holes. Senior Sophie Newlove had the best improvement for DU from the opening round, matching Weinstein with a 76 (+4) after opening with an uncharacteristic 81 (+9) on Monday.

The Pioneers dropped three spots in the team standings to 14th with a two-day total of 608 (+32). Duke broke out of a second-place tie to grab the lead with a 287 (-1). The Blue Devils are at 577 (+1) and hold a two-shot lead on fellow Atlantic Coast Conference member Virginia (579; +3), who turned in the top team score of the day with a 283 (-5).

Freshman Alyson Bean carded a 77 (+5) to round out the scoring for the Pioneers. Bean birdied two of her last three holes and is tied for 63rd.

The 54-hole event concludes on Wednesday with the top six teams and top three individuals all advancing to the NCAA Championships. DU will tee it up with Clemson (605; +29) and Murray State (610; +34) in the final round and that threesome will begin play on No. 10 at 8:50 a.m. CT.
