SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – After earning the No. 2 seed for three-straight seasons, the Denver Pioneers secured the top seed at The Summit League Women's Soccer Championship, presented by U.S. Air Force Special Warfare. They recorded a 7-0-1 league record with 22 points, which were the most the Pioneers have earned in Summit League play in program history.
Joining the Pioneers in Brookings will be No. 2 seed and host South Dakota State, who tallied a 6-1-1 league mark. Oral Roberts will be the No. 3 seed and North Dakota will be the No. 4 seed. The Golden Eagles (3-2-3), who missed last season's league championships, will be making their first trip since being the third seed at the 2017 league championships. The Fighting Hawks (4-4) are making their first tournament appearance since joining the league in 2018.
Oral Roberts needed a win in its regular-season finale at Purdue Fort Wayne and an NDSU loss at Denver to secure the third seed. The Pioneers did their part by posting a 1-0 victory over the Bison. The Golden Eagles own the head-to-head tiebreaker against UND with their 1-0 overtime win on Oct. 17.
The 2019 Summit League Women's Soccer Championship will be played Thursday, Nov. 7, and Saturday, Nov. 9, at the Fishback Soccer Complex in Brookings, S.D. All games will be streamed free of charge on thesummitleague.org.
