ELMHURST, Ill. – The Oral Roberts volleyball team is headed back to the postseason.
Announced Sunday, the Golden Eagles accepted a bid to the 2017 National Invitational Volleyball Championship (NIVC) and will travel to Denton, Texas, to face off against North Texas. That first-round match is slated for a 7 p.m. CT first serve Thursday, Nov. 30.
The Mean Green (28-3) are currently ranked 47th in the RPI and No. 12 in the latest Volleyball Magazine Mid-Major poll. The Golden Eagles (15-13, 107 RPI) are most recently coming off a runner-up performance at The Summit League Tournament where they were bested by Denver in four sets. North Texas also finished second this season at its conference tournament.
For Oral Roberts, this is the program's 16th trip to the postseason and the first such trip since 2006 when the Golden Eagles earned an auto-bid to the NCAA Tournament, falling to then-No. 13 Oklahoma in three sets.
The Golden Eagles are 16-6 all-time versus the Mean Green.
