SIOUX FALLS, S.D. –The Summit League volleyball season wraps up in one week and all nine members continue to fight for a spot at The Summit League Volleyball Championship Nov. 16-18, in Denver, Colo. After last week's action the standings saw some movement as Oral Roberts moved up to the No. 4 spot and Purdue Fort Wayne and North Dakota moved down to Nos. five and six. Competition across the league continues starting Thursday at 7 p.m.

Around The League

  • Denver was taken to five sets for the second time in league play by South Dakota. The Pioneers came out with a victory and extended their win streak to 21 matches, while improving to a historic 23-1 season record and a 12-0 league record.
  • Heading into the match against USD, the Pios received votes in the AVCA DI Coaches Poll for the first time in program history. Denver looks to continue its success Friday when Oral Roberts visits.
  • South Dakota was the first league team this season to win a set against Denver on its home floor Tuesday.
  • The Coyotes continue to dominate on the defensive end as they head into the weekend ranked ninth nationally in digs per set (18.25). In league play, USD has three athletes sitting on top of the standings in individual stats. Hayley Dotseth leads the league in kills per set (4.01), Anne Rasmussen holds the top spots in total digs (493) and digs per set (5.48), while this week's offensive player of the week Taylor Wilson has the best average hitting percentage in the league (.368).
  • Omaha plays inside Baxter Arena for the final time this season as host to South Dakota State Friday and South Dakota Sunday. The Mavericks will return to the road Tuesday to match up against Western Illinois.
  • After an eventful past week in league action, the Golden Eagles jumped up from sixth in the league rankings to fourth and look to keep their spot in the standings as they head to Denver Friday and South Dakota State Sunday. ORU peaked in the national rankings sitting eighth in team digs (1,734) and 13th in digs per set (17.88).  
  • Purdue Fort Wayne wraps up its road schedule beginning with North Dakota Saturday and North Dakota State Sunday.
  • The Mastodons are also making an appearance in the national standings as they currently sit in eighth for team kills (1,365) and team assists (1,280). 
  • North Dakota will stay in its friendly confines and play host to Western Illinois (Thursday) and Purdue Fort Wayne (Saturday). The Fighting Hawks look to break a four-match losing streak and stay in grasps of their first appearance at the Summit League Championships. 
  • North Dakota State came back from deficits in the third and fourth sets to claim the 3-1 victory over South Dakota State last week and continue its two-match win streak. The Bison look to keep in the running for a spot in The Summit League Volleyball Championship this week with match ups against Western Illinois (Friday) and Purdue Fort Wayne (Sunday).
  • South Dakota State captured its second league victory after coming out on top of a five-set thriller over North Dakota Tuesday. The Fighting Hawks had a five-match win streak over the Jackrabbits before Tuesday. SDSU looks to continue momentum at Omaha on Friday and against Oral Roberts on Sunday. 
  • Western Illinois' schedule entails three matches in six days. The Leathernecks will be at North Dakota Thursday and at North Dakota State Friday. WIU will return to Macomb, Ill., for a home match against Omaha Tuesday.
