SDSU’s Lusignan, NDSU’s McClellan Collect Weekly Cross Country Awards
ELMHURST, Ill. – South Dakota State's Trent Lusignan and North Dakota State's Maddie McClellan were named The Summit League's Men's and Women's Cross Country Athletes of the Week for their performances Sept. 24-30.
MEN'S ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Trent Lusignan, South Dakota State
Jr. // Shakopee, Minn.
Lusignan garners his second career Athlete of the Week honor and first of the season after a top 20 finish at the Griak Invitational among a field of three nationally ranked teams and a dozen regionally ranked teams. The Shakopee, Minn., native finished 19th in a personal-best and league-leading 8k time of 24:47.8. The junior led South Dakota State, previously 11th in the Midwest Region, to a 14th-place team finish ahead of four regionally ranked teams, No. 9 Iowa (Midwest), No. 9 Weber State (Mountain), No. 13 Illinois State (Midwest) and No. 13 Central Michigan (Great Lakes).

WOMEN'S ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Maddie McClellan, North Dakota State

McClellan earns her first career Athlete of the Week award after finishing in the top 20 at the Stanford Invitational and leading the Bison, previously No. 6 in the Midwest Region, to a fifth-place finish ahead of then No. 23 San Francisco and UC Davis, No. 6 in the West Region. The senior recorded a league-best 6k time of 22:13 for a 19th-place finish against runners from a pair of nationally-ranked teams and a trio of regionally-ranked teams.
