ELMHURST, Ill. – The Summit League Cross Country Championships are set for Saturday in Macomb, Ill. All seven men's teams and nine women's squads will compete for the first two of 19 league championships of the 2016-17 season.
The women's race begins at 11 a.m. CT and the men's race follows at Noon. Both are held at Spring Lake Park and hosted by Western Illinois University.

2016 LEAGUE LEADERS
WHAT TO WATCH
Macomb host the cross country championships for the first time since 2007 and the fifth time overall … IUPUI looks to become the first men's team to win three consecutive titles since 2006-08 … Robert Murphy (IUPUI) and Joel Reichow (South Dakota State) collected each of the league's weekly athlete of the week honors (Murphy 4 and Reichow 3), marking the fewest total season recipients in the sport's history … Murphy and Reichow rank 1-2 and are separated by less than one full second on the league's 8k top times list … Reichow was runner-up at last year's championship … South Dakota attempts to become the league's second consecutive women's team to "three peat" … North Dakota State's Brittany Brownotter and South Dakota State's Emily Donnay led the league with a pair of athlete of the week honors each … Donnay and teammate Rachel King own the league's top two 6k times this season … Brownotter is the highest returning finisher from last season's championship after placing third.
