USD’s Billington Nabs #SummitXC Women’s Weekly Accolade

ELMHURST, Ill. – South Dakota's Megan Billington earned Summit League Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week honors for her performance during the Sept. 15-16 weekend.

Jr.  // Grand Island, Neb.

  • Received her first career Athlete of the Week honor
  • Recorded a personal-best time of 21:38.4 to finish as runner-up in a field of 183 competitors at Nebraska's Woody Greeno Invitational
  • Her time was a school-record at the Pioneer Park course and the fastest in The Summit League this season
  • Led the Coyotes to a first-place finish, topping a field that included Creighton, Iowa (No. 12 in Midwest Region), Kansas State, Nebraska and Omaha

Through 35 years of Division I athletics, The Summit League offers 19 championship sports and has a combined enrollment of nearly 100,000 at eight institutions, including three located in top 60 U.S. metro populations and two land-grant universities.
