SDSU’s Mather, NDSU’s Anderson earn first Athlete of the Week honors of the season

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – South Dakota State's Micah Mather and North Dakota State's Kelby Anderson garnered The Summit League Cross Country Athlete of the Week honors for their respective performances at the Bison Open this past weekend. These mark the first career honors for both Mather and Anderson.

Micah Mather, South Dakota State
Junior | St. Paul, Minn.

  • Won the Bison Open and holds the active Jackrabbit record in the 6K after clocking a time of 18:18.1
  • Bested his previous 6K mark of 18:55.2 from last year's Bison Open
  • Paced a group of Jackrabbits that finished six runners in the top 10 to win the meet

Also nominated: Sammy Moran (Purdue Fort Wayne), Clayton Whitehead (South Dakota), Alex Bartholomay (North Dakota State), Quintin Thurman (Western Illinois)

Kelby Anderson, North Dakota State
Junior | Bismarck, N.D.

  • Garnered her second straight Bison Open title
  • Her winning 4K time of 13:38.9 was 20 seconds faster than last season
  • Won the Bison Open by a margin of eight seconds to help the Bison women finish second in the team standings
