ORU’s Kipngetich, USD’s Ripperda run away with weekly awards

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Oral Roberts' Emmanuel Kipngetich and South Dakota's Abby Ripperda claimed The Summit League Cross Country Athlete of the Week accolades after impressive individual races this past weekend. These mark the first career awards for both Kipngetich and Ripperda.

Junior | Kapsabet, Kenya

  • Won the 2019 UCA Cross Country Challenge 6K with a time of 18:59.1
  • First ORU cross country athlete to win an individual title since 2013
  • Paced the Golden Eagles to a team finish of fifth overall out of 13 teams

Abby Ripperda, South Dakota
Junior | Sioux Falls, S.D.

  • Became the third Coyote to win an individual title at the Augustana Twilight in five years
  • Clocked a 16:47.07 5,000m time to break the meet record and Coyote course record from last season
  • Led South Dakota to its fourth-straight Augustana Twilight women's team title
