ORU's Smith, Talbert Collect Track & Field Honors

MEN

Shaun Smith, Oral Roberts

Smith nabs the Male Athlete of the Week award for his performance at the Bobby Lane Invitational last week. He set an NCAA Regional qualifying mark in the 800-meter run with a first-place time of 1:50.29, while also finishing first in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 3:49.99. Smith was also part of the ORU 4x400-meter relay team that placed second with a time of 3:10.78.

WOMEN

Rachel Talbert, Oral Roberts

Jr., Newton, Kan./Home-schooled

Talbert collects her second straight Female Athlete of the Week award after setting an NCAA Regional qualifying mark in the discus at the Bobby Lane Invitational last week. Her toss of 52.54m also broke her own school record in the event and is tops in the league this season. Talbert also placed fourth in the javelin with a throw of 41.92m.
