Oakland's Benson Named Summit League Player of the Week

ELMHURST, Ill. - Oakland's Keith Benson earned his second
Summit League Player of the Week award of the season after turning
in a pair of double-doubles during the week. Benson, who also
received the award on Nov. 30, garnered his third career honor.
The junior center averaged 22 points, 14.5 rebounds, 3.5 blocks
and 1.5 steals per game in contests against No. 12 Michigan State
and Green Bay. For the week, Benson recorded a .593 (16-27) field
goal percentage and a .923 (12-13) free throw percentage.
In Oakland's rout of Green Bay, who entered the game ranked No.
25 in the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major poll, Benson set a
career-high with 18 rebounds while totaling 23 points, on 9-of-12
shooting from the floor and 5-of-6 shooting from the line, with six
blocked shots. Earlier in the week against the nationally-ranked
Spartans, Benson scored 21 points, pulled down 11 boards and had
one block.
Benson leads The Summit League with six double-doubles and has
scored 20-plus points in three straight games and five of his last
six.
