Ill. Southern Utah's Davis Baker earned Summit League Player
of the Week accolades after averaging 24.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and
2.5 assists per game and helping key his team's upset of
league-leader North Dakota State, a victory that snapped NDSU's
11-game win streak and 13-game home streak.
Baker,
who garnered his first Summit League honor, tallied 23 points
against the Bison, 16 of which came in the second half. Against
NDSU, Baker hit the go-ahead basket and a pair of free throws on
the ensuing possession, to lift the Thunderbirds to a
74-69.
In
his previous outing two nights earlier at South Dakota State, Baker
scored 26 points, one shy of his career-high, and hit 10-of-19
shots, 3-of-4 three-point attempts, with four rebounds and four
assists.
For
the week, Baker shot 57.6 percent (19-of-33) from the floor, 75.0
percent (6-of-8) from beyond the arc and 83.3 percent (5-of-6) from
the free throw line while playing in 75 of 80 minutes.
