ELMHURST, Ill. - IPFW's Deilvez Yearby and Oral Roberts' Warren
Niles were named Summit League Co-Players of the Week for their
performances Jan. 11-18. The award was the third for Yearby this
season and the first for Niles.
Yearby averaged 15.5 points, 10.0 rebounds and 6.0 blocked shots
during the week while posting double-doubles in a pair of Mastodon
victories to collect his third award of season. Against UMKC,
Yearby had a school-record nine blocked shots, tying him for the
fourth-highest game total ever recorded in Summit League play, and
was one block shy of a triple-double, finishing with 12 points and
10 rebounds. In his prior outing vs. Southern Utah, Yearby scored
19 points and pulled down 10 boards to go along with three
blocks.
Niles averaged 27.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.0
steals while shooting 59.4 percent and 50 percent from beyond the
arc during the week. Against IUPUI, Niles set an ORU freshmen
scoring record with 39 points and collected seven rebounds with
three steals and two assists. His 39-point performance was a Summit
League high this season and came on 13-for-23 shooting, including
5-of-10 from three-point range, and 8-of-10 free throws. Niles
followed that performance with a 15-point outing against Western
Illinois in which he shot 6-of-9 from the field, including 1-of-2
from three, and pulled down five boards with three assists and one
steal.
