IPFW's Saruta and Forsyth Named Summit League Tennis Players of the Week
ELMHURST, Ill. - IPFW's Junya Saruta and Alexandra Forsyth
were named Summit League men's and women's tennis players of the
week for their performances Jan. 19-25.
Junya Saruta, IPFW
R-Fr., Yamaguchi, Japan/Western Michigan Univ.
Saruta posted a combined 4-0 record with a pair of singles
victories and two doubles wins during his team's opening weekend.
Against Detroit, Saruta rolled to a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 6
against Chris Didio and combined with teammate Luis Sanado for an
8-3 win at No. 3 doubles over Didio/Stabley. Saruta notched a 6-4,
6-4 triumph at No. 4 against Eastern Illinois' Michael Sperry and
again teamed with Sanado for an 8-6 win at No. 4 against
Sperry/Race.

Forsyth, IPFW
So., Bella Vista, Ark./Bentonville
Forsyth went 2-0 in singles play and added a doubles victory to
earn the second award of her career. Against Toledo, Forsyth scored
the Mastodons' lone point with a 2-6, 6-4 (10-7) win over Jessica
Azoulay at No. 6 singles. In IPFW's win over Eastern Illinois,
Forsyth rolled to a 6-1, 6-0 triumph over Annie Egan at the No. 6
position and teamed with Katie Brien for an 8-4 victory over the
duo of Frey/Whitley at No. 2 doubles.
