IUPUI's McGowan and Cato Sweep Opening Swimming and Diving Weekly Honors
ELMHURST, Ill. - IUPUI's Tyler McGowan and Katelyn Cato were
named Summit League Swimming and Diving Athletes of the Week for
their performances during the weeks of Oct. 3-10. The awards mark
the first weekly honors of the season.
MEN
Tyler McGowan, IUPUI
Sr., Vincennes, Ind./Lincoln
McGowan captures his fourth career Swimming and Diving
Athlete of the Week award and his first of the season after
recording seven top-two finishes, including two event titles to
open the season. He won his first two events of the season in the
Jaguars victory over Asbury last week. McGowan won the 100 Fly
with a time of 53.69 and the 200 Fly with a time of 1:56.19 along
with two other top-two finishes. In IUPUI's opening weekend he
helped the squad finish third with three top-two finishes.

WOMEN
Katelyn Cato, IUPUI
Fr., Floyd Knobs, Ind./Floyd Central
Cato earns her first career Swimming and Diving Athlete
of the Week honor after opening her collegiate career with six
top-three finishes, including three event wins in her first
collegiate meet. She helped lead the Jaguars to a second-place
finish to open the season against Butler and Asbury and a
third-place finish at the Ball State Relays. Cato won the 100 Back
(1:02.06), 200 Back (2:12.54) and was a part of the winning 200
Free Relay team (1:43.94), which marked her first collegiate event
wins.
