SDSU's Schreier and OU's Balogh Capture Swimming and Diving Weekly Honors
ELMHURST, Ill. - South Dakota State's Chris Schreier and
Oakland's Vanessza Balogh were named Summit League Swimming and
Diving Athletes of the Week for their performances during the week
of Oct. 11-17.
MEN
Chris Schreier, South Dakota State
Fr., Portage, Ind./ Portage
Schreier earns his first career Swimming and Diving
Athlete of the Week award after opening his collegiate career with
four event wins in all four races in which he participated. He set
school records in the 100 Fly (:51.00) and the 200 Fly (1:54.12)
also recorded the fastest league times in both events this season.
Schreier's wins helped the Jackrabbits to a season opening victory
over North Dakota (168.5 - 131.5).

WOMEN
Vanessza Balogh, Oakland

Balogh garners her first career Swimming and Diving
Athlete of the Week honor after opening her collegiate career with
five top-two finishes, including two event wins. She started off
at the Tom Stubbs Relays helping her relay team win the 1500 Free
with a lead-off split of 4:58.67, the seventh fastest time in
school history and then went on to win the 400 Relay against Toledo
with a time of 3:37.18, the fastest league time of the season.
Individually at Toledo, Balogh finished second in the 500 Free
(4:59.86) and the 1000 Free (10:14.02), the second fastest time in
school history. Both individual times mark the fastest league
times this season.
