SDSU's Bongard and NDSU's Peterson Capture Cross Country Weekly Honors
ELMHURST, Ill. - South Dakota State's Anthony Bongard and North
Dakota State's Heidi Peterson were named Summit League Cross
Country Athletes of the Week for their performances during the week
of Sept. 27 - Oct. 4.
MEN
Anthony Bongard, South Dakota State
Jr., Redwood Falls, Minn./Redwood Valley
Bongard earns his second consecutive and second career
Athlete of the Week award after a leading the Jackrabbits to a
first-place finish and capturing the individual title at the SDSU
Classic with a personal best 8k time of 24:46. His time marks the
second fastest 8k league time of the season and beats the personal
best he set last weekend by nearly a minute.

Peterson collects her first career Athlete of the Week
honor after running a 21:38.1 6k time, the league's fastest 6k time
of the season, at the Wisconsin Adidas Invitational. She finished
among the top-third in a field that included runners from six
nationally ranked teams, No. 7 Florida, No. 11 Syracuse, No. 20
Michigan, No. 22 Michigan, No. 26 Wisconsin, and No. 29 North
Carolina.
