IUPUI Sweeps Swimming and Diving Athletes of the Week
ELMHURST, Ill. - IUPUI's Tyler McGowan and Chen Ni were named
Summit League Swimming and Diving Athletes of the Week for their
performances during the week of Nov. 8-15.
MEN
Tyler McGowan
Sr., Vincennes, Ind./Lincoln
McGowan captures his fifth career Swimming and Diving
Athlete of the Week award and his second of the season after
helping his team take third-place at the House of Champions and
recording three top-two finishes. He recorded four top-five
finishes, three individual and one relay. McGowan finished second
in the 500 Free (4:46.07), with the fourth-best time in the league,
400 IM (4:15.36), for the third-best league time, and 200 Fly
(1:57.23). He also helped his 800 Free Relay team post a
fourth-place finish and the fourth-best league time (7:23.21) this
season. All three of McGowan's individual times broke into
IUPUI's top-15 with his 400 IM time marking the fifth best in
school history.

WOMEN
Chen Ni, IUPUI
Jr., Qingdao, China
Ni garners her fourth career Swimming and Diving Athlete
of the Week honor and her first of the season after setting a
school record in the 3-meter dive. She helped the Jaguars take
third place at the House of Champions as she won both the 1-meter
(280.45) and 3-meter dive (315.45). Ni's 3-meter dive set a school
record, beating her previous mark of 311.60 set Feb. 19, 2010. Her
score not only qualifies her to compete in the Zone Championships
but is also the top mark in the league this season by over 23
points.
