Oakland's Benson Named Player of the Week
ELMHURST, Ill. - Oakland's Keith Benson was named Summit
League Player of the Week for his performance during the week of
Dec. 14-20.

Benson earns his second award of the season and his eighth
career honor after notching a double-double in leading Oakland to
an upset at No. 7 Tennessee. Against the Volunteers, Benson scored
26 points and pulled down 10 rebounds while connecting on 9-of-16
field goal attempts, including a pair of three-pointers, and all
six free throw attempts to go along with a pair of blocked shots.
The win marked the highest-ranked Division I opponent ever defeated
by Oakland and was the first win over a top-10 team for The Summit
League since the 2006-07 season. Benson had 11 points on 5-of-8
shooting with seven rebounds, four blocked shots and two steals at
Michigan. For the week, he averaged 18.5 points, 8.5 rebounds and
three blocks per game against SEC and Big Ten competition.
