IPFW Sweeps Tennis Player of the Week Honors
ELMHURST, Ill. - IPFW swept The Summit League men's and
women's tennis player of the week awards as Junya Saruta and
Alexandra Forsyth were honored for their performances Feb.
16-22.

Saruta received his second accolade of the season after
winning all three singles matches and adding a doubles victory
during the week. Playing the No. 5 position, Saruta notched a 6-2,
2-6, 10-8 win over Niagara's Joseph Zelic and a 6-3, 7-5 victory
over Wright State's Evan Neuman on Friday. The following day,
Saruta scored a 6-1, 6-2 win over Green Bay's Josh Oothoudt at the
No. 4 position. In doubles action, Saruta teamed with Luis Sanado
at No. 2 for an 8-4 win over Niagara's Sarrasin/Gallegos in a
Mastodons victory.

Alexandra Forsyth, IPFW

Forsyth collected her second award of the season and third of
her career after posting perfect 4-0 records in both singles and
doubles play while helping her squad to a 4-0 mark. Forsyth's
singles victories came in straight sets with a 6-1, 6-2 decision
over Wright State's Jackie Garrett at the No. 6 spot and a 7-5, 6-0
victory over Southeast Missouri State's Diana Donoslovic at No. 5.
In addition to a default win against Niagara, Forsyth notched a 7-6
(4), 6-7 (7), 6-2 triumph over Detroit's Erin Weldon at No. 5. In
doubles play, Forsyth teamed with Katie Brien for four wins at the
No. 2 position, defeating WSU's Hines/Albuquerque (8-5), Niagara's
Solis/Walters (8-3), SEMO's Nattier/Hartley (8-2) and Detroit's
Falnkova/Espinosa (8-4). Forsyth has won five consecutive singles
matches.
