NDSU's Birkel Claims Player of the Week Honors

Birkel captures Player of the Week honors after
leading North Dakota State with 23.0 points and 6.5 rebounds per
game last week. The sophomore also recorded 4.0 steals, 3.0
assists, 1.0 block and committed only 1.0 turnover per contest. In
a 72-68 win at IPFW Monday, Birkel scored a career-high 25 points,
along with matching her career-high with eight boards. She added
four steals, three assists and two blocks, while committing zero
turnovers in the game. In the loss at Oakland, Birkel scored a
team-high 21 points, which gives her three 20-point games this
season. The Lincoln, Neb., native shot 43 percent (19-of-44) from
the field and 83 percent (5-of-6) at the line.
