IPFW's Karpun, NDSU's Johnson Capture Weekly Softball Awards

Karpun collects her first Player of the Week award of the season
after hitting .500 (6-for-12), with five runs scored, two home
runs, a double and five RBI at the Winthrop Early Bird Invitational
last week. The Delta, B.C., native belted home runs against Siena
and Morgan State. Karpun has recorded a hit in the last seven
games, including three multi-hit games and leads IPFW in doubles
and is tied for the team lead in home runs and RBI.

Johnson earns her first Pitcher of the Week honor of
the season after posting a 3-0 record, with a 0.00 ERA, while only
giving up four hits and recording 31 strikeouts in 20.2 innings of
work last week in the Gaucho Classic. The freshman from Crystal
Lake, Minn., recorded her first collegiate shutout in 2-0 win over
UC Santa Barbara, while striking out a season-high 13. Against
Drexel, Johnson struck out 11 batters over 6.2 innings of relief
work.
