IPFW's Karpun, Centenary's Highsmith Earn Weekly Softball Honors

Karpun wins her second Player of the Week award this season after
hitting .500 (4-for-8), with four home runs and nine RBI in league
play last week. The junior from Delta, B.C., belted three home runs
and seven RBI in the nightcap of a doubleheader against UMKC.
Karpun's three home runs against the Kangaroos ties her with 40
other players for the second most in a Division I game and
thirteenth in NCAA history with 12 total bases in a game.

Highsmith wins her first Pitcher of the Week honor
of the season after throwing 8.2 innings in relief, allowing three
hits and striking out nine with a 0.00 ERA in league action last
week. The Houston, Texas, native pitched 4.2 innings of relief in
the third game of a three-game series against Oakland after
entering the game with the Ladies down 4-0. Highsmith did not allow
a run to cross the plate while striking out seven to earn her first
win of the season.
