Oral Roberts' Trukshanin, Western Illinois' Unzicker Named Tennis Players of the Week
ELMHURST, Ill. - Oral Roberts' Mikhail Trukshanin and Western
Illinois' Amy Unzicker were named as The Summit League's men's and
women's tennis player of the week for their performances March
23-29.

Trukshanin received his first career award after a perfect combined
singles and doubles record in cluster play. In three straight-set
wins, Trukshanin outscored his opponents by a 36-10 margin, besting
IUPUI's Dan Klingenberg (6-1, 6-1), Centenary's Evan Magill (6-0,
6-2) at No. 2 singles before moving up to defeat Western Illinois'
Jeff Cote (6-4, 6-2) at No. 1. Trukshanin teamed with Igor Sobolta
for doubles victories at the top position against IUPUI's tandem of
Vasalakis/Yunes (8-2), Centenary's duo of Magill/Shoptaugh (8-5)
and WIU's team of Cote/McGuire (8-2). The weekend performance
helped ORU to a 2-1 record while Trukshanin improved his individual
season marks to 4-4 in singles and 6-1 in doubles.

Amy Unzicker, Western Illinois

Unzicker claimed her first career award after going 3-0 in
both singles and doubles play. Playing the No. 5 singles position
against Chicago State, Unzicker defeated Penny Moore, 7-6 (4), 6-4,
for WIU's lone singles point. Unzicker moved up to the No. 4 spot
and posted wins against Graceland's Michelle McCabe (6-1, 6-2) and
Quincy's Leslie Ganer (6-3, 6-1). In doubles action, Unzicker
paired with Claire Griffin for an 8-1 victory over Quincy's duo of
Bertelsman/Marsot and recorded a second victory by
walkover.
