IUPUI's Modesitt and IPFW's Ballus Named Tennis Players of the Week
ELMHURST, Ill. - IUPUI's Joel Modesitt and IPFW's Ingrid
Ballus were named Summit League men's and women's tennis players of
the week for their performances March 2-8.

Modesitt
earned his second award of the season after notching a pair of
singles victories and one doubles win in matches against Eastern
Illinois, Michigan State and Detroit. Playing the No. 4 position,
Modesitt defeated EIU's Brendan Kinkopf, 6-7, 6-3, 11-10 and MSU's
Justin Haag, 4-6, 6-3, 10-6. Playing No. 3 doubles, he teamed with
Taylor Tunis to top the Spartan duo of Firth/Sperry, 8-6. Modesitt
was one of two Jaguars to go 2-1 during the week and increased his
season singles win total to seven.

Ballus earned her first award of the season after winning her
singles match in straight sets and collecting a victory at No. 2
doubles to help IPFW to a 7-0 victory over Bradley. Playing the No.
2 singles position, Ballus defeated BU's Emily Regenold, 6-3, 6-4.
Teaming with Amy Recht at No. 1 doubles, the duo topped the Braves
team of Miller/Regenold, 8-5. Ballus' season record stands at 9-6
in singles and 10-5 in doubles.
