ELMHURST, Ill. - Western Illinois' Patrick Hammers and UMKC's Suzan Lisenby were named as The Summit League's men's and women's tennis players of the week for their performances April 13-19.

Hammers garnered his first career award after posting a 3-0 singles record and a 3-0 doubles mark in non-league action during the week. The freshman notched straight set victories over Bradley's Brock Reiman (6-0, 6-1) at the No. 4 position and Quincy's Baxter Grace (6-0, 6-0) at the No. 2 spot before posting a win over St. Francis' Scott Surges (4-6, 6-1, 6-1) at No. 2. In doubles play, Hammers teamed with Francisco Ortiz for a trio of wins at No. 3 against Bradley (8-3), Quincy (8-2) and St. Francis (8-4). Hammers the regular season with a 14-11 overall singles record, including a 1-1 mark in Summit League play. Western Illinois is the No. 4 seed in this weekend's league championship.

Suzan Lisenby, UMKC

Lisenby received her first career award after totaling perfect 3-0 singles and doubles records during league play and helping her team to its first Summit League Tournament appearance since 2000. Playing the No. 4 singles position, Lisenby posted straight-set wins over Oakland's Gabrielle Gogas (6-0, 7-5) and IUPUI's Ashley Haskett (6-0, 6-0) and a victory over South Dakota State's Megan McDougall (6-2, 3-6, 7-5). Against league champion IPFW, Lisenby led reigning player of the week Katie Brien 7-5, 4-6, 2-1 when the match was decided. Lisenby teamed with Laura Bouet at the No. 2 doubles position and collected wins against Oakland (10-8), IUPUI (8-2) and South Dakota State (8-2). The Kangaroo duo also led IPFW's tandem of Forsyth/Brien 7-6. Lisenby's season singles win total of 11 is tied for third most in school history and her 11 doubles wins are tied for the UMKC season record. The Kangaroos are the No. 3 seed in this weekend's league championship.
